Inyang, who is also the Executive Chairman of Yakurr Local Government Area, made this known while speaking with journalists on the sidelines of the ALGON 2026 General Assembly held in Abuja on Thursday, October 15, 2026.

He declared that Cross River State was experiencing renewed hope and purposeful action under Otu’s leadership, noting that the governor’s People First agenda had inspired local government chairmen across the state to strengthen service delivery and deepen development at the grassroots.

According to him, the General Assembly offered an important platform for local government leaders to evaluate their performance, exchange experiences and identify strategies for improving governance.

Inyang expressed satisfaction with Cross River’s performance, describing its grassroots development efforts as impactful and increasingly recognised beyond the state.

He identified the restoration of Cross River’s status as an oil-producing state as a major achievement of the Otu administration, explaining that the development had reopened an important revenue stream and strengthened economic confidence following years of exclusion.

The ALGON chairman attributed the milestone to Governor Otu’s sustained advocacy and strategic engagements at the federal level, which he said had advanced the state’s economic interests.

On security, Inyang applauded the Cross River State House of Assembly for passing the Constitution (Sixth Alteration) Bill to establish a State Police Service, with 22 out of 25 lawmakers voting in support.

He described the legislative development as a significant step towards strengthening security across the state, particularly in rural communities where the protection of lives, farmlands, businesses and investments remains critical.

The Yakurr council chairman also highlighted the governor’s launch of a new Climate Transition Plan, saying the initiative was designed to expand the state’s green economy and create new opportunities for sustainable development.

He noted that Cross River could benefit from carbon credits, sustainable forestry and climate financing, while strengthening agriculture, ecotourism and renewable energy as complementary drivers of economic growth.

Inyang further cited the administration’s support for smallholder farmers and the development of cocoa and oil palm value chains as evidence of its commitment to agricultural transformation.

He added that infrastructure development remained a major priority, with road rehabilitation, rural electrification and improvements in primary healthcare and educational facilities being pursued across Calabar metropolis and the state’s three senatorial districts.

With political activities gradually gaining momentum, the Cross River ALGON chairman urged residents to remain focused on the performance of public officeholders and avoid being misled by political interests.

He maintained that the administration’s achievements should be assessed across the state’s 18 local government areas, insisting that the impact of governance must be measured by its benefits to the people.

Inyang also praised the ALGON National President, Hon. (Engr.) Bello Lawal, the National Executive Committee, principal officers, National Executive Council, Board of Trustees and National Secretariat for their efforts towards promoting unity and strengthening local government administration nationwide.

He concluded by expressing gratitude to Governor Otu for his leadership, support and commitment to the local government councils, reaffirming the loyalty of the 18 council chairmen to the consolidation of the People First agenda.
