Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has congratulated Nigeria’s and Delta State born Wellington Jighere for emerging the new Scrabble champion of the world after defeating Lewis Mackay 4-0 in a Best of Seven series in Perth Australia.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Charles Ehiedu Aniagwu, Governor Okowa noted that it was the first time an African will win the world best scrabble player and that he is excited that a Deltan is bringing that honour to Africa.

“I congratulate you for this great honour that you have done for Nigeria and Africa.

“We are proud of you and the wonderful achievement of Team Nigeria in emerging the best team of the tournament” he said.
