Asabe Shehu Yar’Adua: The Decoration of Selfless Service Icon

asabe being decoratedThe founder and president of Asabe Shehu Yar’Adua Foundation (ASYARF), Dr. Asabe Shehu Yar’Adua was recently decorated by the Man O war Nigeria as a Grand Patron.

Her selfless service, among other qualities singled her out for the position.

She has since the inception of the foundation the welfare of children and women, especially those living in rural communities as her major priority.

Having on several occasions disclosed that she hate to see a child suffer, she has over the years taken steps to put smiles on the faces of indigent and vulnerable members of the society, without prejudice to religion or tribe as she has touched lives in many communities.

The foundation, which believes in building bridges across the various ethnic groups and religious boundaries, had put smiles on the faces of indigenous pregnant and lactating women of Gora community, Kaduna State, as Dr. Asabe donated prenatal and postnatal vitamin supplements worth millions of naira to women of the community.

asabe chats with fellow patronShe had also built several boreholes to provide water to communities and groups, just as she has extended the foundation’s scholarship scheme to impact on indigent youths, who were in dire need of education.

The physically challenged individuals and groups were not left out in the philanthropic gesture of this iconic personality as she was instrumental to the establishment and provision of water to a vocational home for the physically challenged in Ogun State, South western Nigeria.

The gesture was part of the foundation’s support to other non-governmental organisations. The body in charge of the vocational home, Family Vocational Institute for Disabled had appreciated the Dr. Asabe Shehu Yar’Adua for joining other spirited individuals and organization to give succor to members of the home,

Severally, physically challenged sports men and women have been touched by her touch of smiles at the National Stadium in Surulere area of Lagos state, and in some other states of the federation.

Accordiasabe chats with commandersng to her, “the foundation engaged itself in the programme in order to contribute its quota to the welfare of indigenous women and we were able to achieve our aims through the assistance of some foreign agencies.”

Her selflessness and outspoken nature, in defence of the less privileged and vulnerable members of the society and special concern for youths and women issues as well as her determination to enhance the livelihood of the people in rural communities by providing viable goods and materials to the grassroots through several empowerment initiatives, endeared her to the heard of the Man O War leadership.
