The Deputy Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Friday Ossai Osanebi has expressed his condolence over the death of Senator Felix Ovudoroye Ibru, who died at the age of 80.
Osanebi, in a statement, described Felix Ibru’s death as a great loss to the people of Delta State in particular and Nigerians in general.
He described the late Ibru as a father, a patriot and a political icon who laid the foundation of a state we can truly call our own, as first civilian governor of Delta State.
While condoling the Urhobo Nation of Delta State, Osanebi noted that Ibru’s death came at a time when his fatherly advice, contribution and ideas were most needed, adding that his very rich ideas would have come handy in the present socio-economic and political uncertainties in the country.
“We however take solace in the fact that the late icon’s sojourn on earth remains a huge blessing to humanity,” the Deputy Speaker declared.
Osanebi noted that Ibru was among the very special people who made significant and indelible contributions to the country and humanity.
The Deputy Speaker joined the Ibru’s family, friends, associates, and fans across the world in mourning the ex-governor and Senator, assuring the family that the former governor would always be remembered for his hood works.
He will be remembered and honored by his proud followers, countrymen and Deltans for his exemplary leadership, diligence and a life of sacrifice which had inspired others to take up a life of selfless service to humanity.”
He prayed God to grant his immediate family, the people of Delta state and his associates the fortitude to bear the loss, just as he prayed God to grant him eternal rest.
