Prince Chukwuebuka Alleges Postponement of AMAC Election by INEC was On Orders of Tinubu and APC

Recently, INEC has made claim that the postponement of the Abuja Municipal Area Council {AMAC} election was as a result of the Commissions inability to train enough staff to man the election, but going by information made available to us by Hon. Prince Kingsley Chukwuebuka Uwanuakwa, who insisted that he has it on good source that the postponement of the AMAC election was at the instance of an Ahmed Bola Tinubu, former governor of Lagos and APC chieftain.

He wondered why INEC should find it convenient to claim shortage of manpower for ordinary council election.  He confirmed that he has it on good record that Tinubu and the other APC stalwarts who were uncomfortable with the recent Supreme Court ruling which validated the governorship election of  Abia, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Taraba States governors have vowed to use the instrumentality of the State such as the Military, INEC and other security agencies to cow the opposition party in Rivers State rerun and the AMAC election.  ‘Tinubu as usual mandated the powers that  be to prevail on INEC to postpone AMAC election so as to enable him and his cohorts to perfect their schemes in Rivers State re-election and AMAC elections.  He insisted that Tinubu convinced APC that if AMAC election and Rivers State rerun should run simultaneously, that APC will not be able to achieve their objective.  Most recently, a claim credited to Rotimi Amachi the Hon. Minister of Transportation/Aviation {as he recently claimed on Channels TV} and the immediate past governor of Rivers State has confirmed that there is a grand scheme by the APC to hijack the electoral processes in both Rivers State and AMAC.

Critics and opposition have continued to accuse APC of trying to run a one party state by constantly arresting, detaining, persecuting and prosecuting opposition as if all members of the ruling party have been washed with hyssop and cleansed in heaven from every wrong doing.  This has been the situation.  Currently, the trend is that most of those accused of corruption have run to APC as a shield. The fear was  that the country was fast deg

enerating to a one party police state until reprieve came the way of the opposition when the Supreme Court and those learned justices in their wisdom awarded ‘Victory’ to all the governors from PDP whose  victories at the poll were earlier questioned and nullified by the Electoral Tribunals or the Appeal Courts.  No sooner than the wind of this victory came than the APC began to accuse the Judiciary of corruption and one-sidedness.  The President did not hide his emotion by publicly admitting that the Judiciary was his highest headache.

For every enlightened Nigeria, the blame should not go to the Judiciary alone whose independence is yet to be guaranteed hitherto.  The Executive and the Legislative Arms of the government have their independence and have continued to ‘enjoy’ the goodies of this independence while the Judiciary has always remained at the mercies of the former.  The problem with Nigeria does not seem to be that of the Judiciary alone whose duty and functions it is to interpret laws made by the Legislature and nodded to by the Executive.  The Legislature does not seem to have made laws that have teeth enough to bite.  When they so do, the Judiciary cannot act outside the ambits of the laws made, so to this extent, the problem is not with the Judiciary alone.

‘The body language of the President and APC have consistently shown their resentment for opposition.  Despite the hug

e corruption allegation hanging on the neck of some of the APC stalwarts, the Anti- Corruption agencies have continued to feign ignorance and looked the other way by claiming that there have not been any petitions against them thereby proving the allegation that they were being used as instruments of political oppression.  It would be recalled that few weeks ago, the former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo has described the current leadership of EFCC as a toothless backing dog who have lost the glory the commission garnered during his time under the chairmanship of Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.
