The All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised the alarm over an alleged plot by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to undermine results of the forthcoming September 19, 2020 Edo State Governorship election, by hacking into the official serve of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
APC in statement obtained by The Street Reporters Newspaper said the plot was discovered by its Strategic Undercover Team (SUT) deployed to clandestinely monitor activities of the intelligence unit of the PDP in relation to the Edo governorship election.
The party in the statement by the Chairman of its Media Campaign Council, Mr. John Mayaki said, “this plot was being hatched in conjunction with a few unscrupulous persons with names withheld”.
The party also fingered the former Campaign Organisation of the former presidential candidate of the PDP in the 2019 Presidential Election, which it said had re-assembled the Organisation’s Electronic and Server Manipulation desk, dissolved at the end of its petition at the Supreme Court.
This revived team according to APC is being coordinated by a server specialist, from Kenya.
The party has also called on the leadership of INEC to shine its eyes and beware of what it called, “moles and enemies within bent on sabotaging its efforts to deliver, fair and credible election in Edo”.
It further charged the electoral body to beware of alarmists employed by PDP to raise false alarms and hoax with a view to stampeding and blackmailing the agency to bend its rules and decisions in its favour.
