With APC ward/lga/state congresses and national convention scheduled to hold in June 2021, South East APC Presidency Project 2023 group has harped on the need to “engage APC stakeholders across the country to do the needful to pave the way for a South-Easterner to eventually emerge as the party’s 2023 presidential flag bearer.”
According to a statement signed by the group’s national coordinator, Dr Chinedu Jideofo-Ogbuagu, “the first needful thing to do is for the delegates to the national convention to elect as national chairman a truly credible and progressive Northerner. We don’t want a criminally minded Northerner who might later want to sell the presidential ticket to a fellow criminally minded Southerner.
“And we certainly don’t want any Southerner to be considered for national chairmanship of our party, as electing a Southerner as national chairman would technically and practically kill any prospect of a Southerner emerging our 2023 presidential flag bearer.
“With a sound Northerner elected national chairman, the first and biggest hurdle before emergence of President of Nigeria of South-East extraction on APC platform will have been scaled.
“But we cannot successfully lobby for election of such a Northerner as national chairman empty handed or by lazy/idle wishful thinking at home. Nor should we trust that a few self-serving men and women in a smoke-filled room would negotiate successfully in the collective interest of our Project agenda.
“So, South-East APC Presidency Project 2023 must go all out over the next one month (just one month!) to ensure that a sound Northerner becomes national chairman of our great progressive party. We need your urgent financial support to succeed”, the statement read.
Releasing account details for financial support, the group urged citizens to “Kindly send your cash support to Zenith Bank current account number 1017179253 in favour of South East APC Integrity Group.
“Or call the National Coordinator on either 08023163451 or 07068400040 to come and pick up your cash support”, the South East APC Presidency Project 2023 group said.
Thanking stakeholders in anticipation of their kind and patriotic support, Dr Jideofo-Ogbuagu said “No amount is too small to support us with.”
He added, “Remember that the promise of President of Nigeria of South-East extraction from 29th May 2023 is the promise of justice, security, peace, unity and prosperity for all Nigerians from that date. Nothing else is.”
