The NDC registration of support groups is free and attracts no fee whatsoever. The National Democratic Congress, NDC, issued the warning on Tuesday in Abuja. It cautioned state chairmen against demanding money from support groups.
The statement came from the Office of the National Publicity Secretary. It was signed by Osa Director Esq, National Publicity Secretary of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC.
Registration Does Not Attract Any Fee — NDC
The party said its leadership received reports about extortion. According to the reports, some state chairmen demand registration fees from support groups. Therefore, the national leadership moved to clarify the position.
The party stated categorically that registration of support groups is free. It does not attract any fee under any guise. Consequently, no group should pay money to any officer or chapter.
“The registration of support groups is free. It does not attract any fee whatsoever,” the statement read.
Only Directorate Of Support Groups Can Register Groups
Furthermore, the NDC said registration is the exclusive prerogative of the Directorate of Support Groups. Therefore, all inquiries and registration must go to the directorate.
The directorate operates at the National Headquarters of the party in Abuja. As a result, state chapters have no role in the process.
“No State Chapter, officer, or official of the party is authorized to register support groups or collect money for that purpose under any guise,” the party warned.
The party directed all state chapters to be properly guided. It also ordered strict compliance with the directive. Any violation will attract disciplinary action. The action will follow the constitution of the party.
NDC Cherishes Obidient And Kwankwasiya Movements
In addition, the NDC appreciated the support of all support groups. It specifically mentioned the Obidient and Kwankwasiya Movements. It said it cherishes their partnership and support.
The party assured that it will create an enabling environment for all groups. The goal is to ensure victory at all levels in 2027. Therefore, it urged groups to report any demand for illegal fees.
The leadership urged support groups to contact the national headquarters directly. It said this will prevent extortion and ensure proper documentation.
