The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has disbursed starter packs to 66 graduated trainees of it’s Community Based Training Scheme (CBTS) in Oyo State.
Speaking on behalf of the NDE Director General, Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, at the orientation/resettlement programme in Ibadan, the Oyo State Coordinator, Mrs. Olayemi Olayinka, noted that over the years, the Federal Government through the agency has consistently fulfilled its mandate not only by generating employment among the ranks and files of unemployed youths in the state but also gives quantitative trainings and resettlement to those who are interested in acquiring vocational skills training .
The NDE boss reassured that , the NDE’s focus is on addressing the rising unemployment rate in the country in line with the objective of the FG,s drive on Job creation and poverty reduction in the country.
Also speaking, the Director Vocational Skills Department Abuja, Mallam ISA Abdu, who was represented Mr Yusuf Tahir Mohammed, said NDE as an employment agency, believe so much in the dynamics of capacity building of the unemployed youths and making them employable by building the much needed knowledge, skills and competence in them.
“Today, Sixty-six (66) of you made up of two (2)trainees from each Local Government Areas in the state having broaden their knowledge in 18 skill sets would get empowerment kits as part of effort to fulfil your long-time dream to be skilled and self-reliant”.
The head of department, Vocational Skills Department, NDE Oyo state, Mrs. Hilda Lawani, explained that chosen skill sets which involves both technical and domestics skill, ranges from Fashion designing, Catering Service, Hairdressing, Photography, Electrical Installation, Aluminum Fabrication, GSM Repairs among others were designed to ensure that beneficiaries become self-reliant and agents of change in their localities and the country at large.
She advised the beneficiaries of the programme to develop a focused and healthy attitude towards the scheme so as to justify the huge investments being made on them by the government.
She also appealed to the graduated trainees to strive harder to pay back their loans on time and commended the government and master trainers for their commitment towards imparting sound vocational skills to the teeming unemployed youths in the state.
