Kogi STETCOM Teachers’ Recruitment Is Election Scam, Salaries Won’t Be Paid – Ugbede Alleges

Prince Opaluwa Omera, an aide to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate in the November governorship election in Kogi State has toldKog newly recruited teachers in the state not to be deceived as the recruitment exercise is an “election scam”.

While insisting that they won’t be paid salary, Prince Omera urged them not to lose hope as candidate of the SDP, popularly known as Muri, would regularise their employment and pay salary arrears when voted into office.

Opaluwa made this revelation in Abuja while addressing Newsmen yesterday on the plight of the newly recruited Kogi STETCOM Teachers.

He said, “Just imagine, these people were managing in one place or the other before this so-called teaching appointments, with joy in their heart resigned because of STETCOM job and could not go back there again.

“Please don’t just expect salaries in this administration, I am very optimistic that when Hon. Muri comes he will regularize your appointments and you will be paid in arrears”

“I am surprised that a Government will employ teachers since February 13th and salaries are not paid till date, just to give job seekers false hopes because they need them to vote for the Ododo who has been instrumental to none payment worker’s salaries. This is too bad, so unbearable and can not be accepted”, he expressed.

“As I speak to you, local government allocation, which was diverted to private companies accounts last week, yesterday they have secured an overdraft for local government salaries which was duly and handsomely paid to every states and local governments from FAAC.

“Today local government teachers have started getting 50% salary and pensioners 55% which is the highest ever paid since the existence of this Bello’s government.

“Even in the face of the current hardship in Nigeria, full salary is not paid.”

He further noted that withholding salaries for almost seven (7) months is unacceptable, distasteful and unbearable, noting that he was aware that the recruitment was initiated as a result of the fear of Muri.

He called on Kogi Civil servants to resist the continuation of bad governance and keep their PVC in support of the people-oriented candidate of the Social Democratic Party.

“The suffering of our people will determine the results of the election on November 11th, 2023.

“Our people are tired and the untold hardship; (it) is telling on them because the more they keep getting the people pushed into poverty the more it affects us who are citizens of Kogi (State) because we keep getting series of financial requests from home, this also affects us negatively”, he lamented.
