Coalition of Pro-Democracy Groups for A Better Nigeria has given security agencies a seven-day ultimatum to caution members of the Obidient Movement, a group of supporters of the candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 presidential election, Mr. Peter Obi, over what it described as intimidation of Presidential Election Petition Tribunal Judges.
In a statement signed by the National Coordinator of the Coalition, Comrade AWA Bamiji, the group alleged that there was a โgrand plan by the members of the Labour Party (LP), popularly known as Obidients, to invoke the spirit of #EndSARS, part II, but this time around, against the Judiciary, should the Presidential election Tribunal judgement swing other way.โ
The body, then went ahead to inform the โNigerian Security Agencies and International Police as well to be on alert henceforth as we are seeing the continuous preparation for the grand plan.โ
Comrade Awa Bamiji added that โApart from intimidation of Judiciary within the premises of Tribunal, the pictures of the family members of a Tribunal Judge are being displayed on social media by one of these trouble makers with the attached threatening statement.
โThis has never happened anywhere in the World but they believe that Nigeria is a Banana Republic, where they could wreck havoc on lives and properties across the 36 States and Federal Capital again without being thwarted at the early because they are day dreamers as far as Aso Rock Villa is concerned? “We are once beaten, twice shy”.
โ”All Eyes On Judiciary” Billboard sprang up illegally at some conspicuous corners in Nigeria but it took people sometimes to discover that it was their agenda to incite Populace against the Judiciary ahead of Judgement date. Now, that had been adequately taken care of.
โThe Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, was in Benin yesterday, Monday, for the Labour Party electioneering campaign ahead of the September 2 Local Government Election but we were surprised to see the same Campaign Rally video being subtitled “All Eyes On Judiciary Rally” and circulated on social media.
โAn attempt to correct the desperate Author constructively on the Social media WhatsApp Group Platform, without reporting him to the Security Agency, made him to come back with a flyer titled ‘All Eye On Judiciary”, still as original Author.
โWe have documented all these evidences and sent to the appropriate quarters for legal actionโ, the group said.
According to the statement, โThey lie a lot, using different propaganda to cajole gullible audience but this time around, we are saying “enough is enough”.
โAfter the expiration of 7-day ultimatum given to the Security Agencies, we would return to barricades of peaceful and mass protest against this uncivilized culture, as it happened between Monday, 27 March, 2023, to Monday 29 May, 2023, at Unity Fountain Square, Abuja, where we successfully chased away this same Group of OBI-DIENTS for complete 2 months, till the day of inauguration, May 29.
โWe are to repeat the same, but this time around, in all 36 State Capitals plus FCT, Abuja, silmutaneously till the day of Tribunal Judgement, if the Security Agencies don’t act as alerted.
โThe international police must be ready to start picking them up one by one abroad because we, as June 12 Veterans with unbeatable network, will smoke them out again all over the Country by our intimidating but peaceful protest across board and the alternative place for them would be to move abroad.
โThey are trouble makers of just 3 years but we are trouble shooters of 3 Decades running. If you couldn’t wake up late Head of State, General Sani Abacha, for a moonlight story about the June 12 Veterans, you have former military President, Gen Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (Rtd), to do justice to that
โHenceforth, “All Eyes on OBI-DIENTS”, to save Nigerian Judiciary from further intimidation. Aluta Continua!โ, the statement concluded.
