Anietie Ukpong, AKISCOM Treasurer Candidate Unveils Plans For The Community

One of the top contenders for the position of Head of the Treasury (TREASURER) in the forthcoming Akwa Ibom state Community (AKISCOM) election in Lagos State, Pastor Anietie Cosmas Ukpong has declared that he will bring innovations into his office if he is elected as the Treasurer of the Body.
He made the declaration during a Media chats with newsmen drawn from the Print, electronics and on-line media Organizations. Pastor Ukpong , in the course of his interaction stated that based on his background as a Man of God, Freight Forwarder, with many years of experience in the business and financial propriety, he will bring his wealth of experience to impact positively in the financial resources of the Community. He promised to enforce the spirit and letter of the constitution through regular financial account /funds update in his possession.
He assured that he will team up with other critical stakeholders in the executives to diversify in revenue generation.
This he stated will be made possible through giving the Akiscom Hall a facelift that will encourage individual and corporate patronages of the Hall.
Other ways of fund generation to the community, he disclosed, will be to reach out to privileged Sons and Daughters of Akwa Ibom resident in Lagos to support some of the programs that will be introduced by the incoming executive which he disclosed will aim at empowering the youth and the women into becoming business entrepreneurs.
The Treasurer hopeful said parts of the measures will also be to encourage the executive to constantly liase with NGOs, Development Partners and the Lagos State government on ways to assist them succeed in the various programs and projects that will be unveiled by them after their inauguration into office to bring about sustainable development of Akiscom and her members.
Pastor Ukpong said with his wide experience in Community work, and at present the President of IKOT EKPENE, ESSIEN UDIM, OBOT AKARA ( IKEDOA) in Lagos, he promised to work in concert with others to ensure that the interest of Akwa Ibomites are well taken care of, including that of the youth, women and the Elderly through life touching assistance to them.
“Accountability, good representation, honesty and a purposeful leadership will be my watchword” he had declared, adding that “iam in the race to add value to Akiscom leadership and help take the Organization to an enviable heights”, he submitted.
In response to questions from journalists on how he will work with others to reposition the Community and indigenes in view of the fact that some indigenes have lost bearings of what is going on in their home state, Pastor Anietie Cosmas Ukpong said he will encourage our state government and wealthy Akwa Ibomites to secure slots and airtime in most Radio and Television Broadcast Stations where our state news and educative programs will be broadcast in our local language for the benefit of our people here.
He further stated that the next executive will hunt, identify and celebrate talented indigenes in Art, music, sports, entrepreneurs etc where their ingenuity will be celebrated globally for further patronage by the international Community.
On how he will work to ensure peoples’ trust in his assignments, Pastor Anietie said in all the years of his service in Community work and still counting, he has not struggled for positions for reason of trust people bestowed on him and by virtue of his antecedent, background and honesty, assuring that his transparency and regular Account Presentation during general meetings of the Community will motivate the people to have the confidence and support him to succeed.
On what he will do differently from his predecessors to motivate the people, Pastor Ukpong said there will be regular competition in sport, entertainment and display of Cultural festivals etc, stressing that the state can boast of talents in all spheres of human endeavors with no exposure and patronage but that the regular competition will unveiled them for these talents to be maximally tapped and showcase in the media so as to attain global prominence.
He promised to partner with the Media to ensure that activities of the Community is regularly given wider exposure and publicity as he solicited for their support in this direction.
The Media Parley was held at the prestigious Olive Perfect Touch Restaurant & Bar located at Onipanu and owned by Mrs. Cecilia Archibong , with NTA, NEWSPLASH 247 TV, The Sun Newspaper, Ibom Pathfinder, WINZTV, SSTV, as well as CMC GLADIATORS magazine in attendance. The Media parley and the briefing was coordinated by Amb. Cornell Udofia, President of CMC gladiators & Cornell Entertainment.
The highpoint of the event was the investiture of Pastor Anietie Cosmas Ukpong as a Patron of CMC Gladiators for his remarkable contributions to the growth of the Award- Winning platform which in response appreciated the Group for finding him worthy of the recognition and pledged his continued support to the platform and thanked God for such resourceful people like Amb. Cornell whose selfless service in promoting talents and personalities, he stated, is unrivaled.
In his remark, Amb. Cornell Udofia said he is grateful for the out going Akiscom President, Prince Felix Udoh for keeping to his promise to conduct a hitch free general election which he stated the feelers on ground points to that direction as Candidates campaigns, he disclosed, are being carried out based on issues and without any form of unnecessary rhetorics.
Pastor Ukpong is a business man with a knack for excellence and financial discipline. He has held various positions in Community work, with the latest being the President of IKEDOA, a conglomerate of three local government Community Association.
He has variously been described as a discipline, results oriented and a dedicated individual with a Midas touch to turn things around for good wherever he is.
With the media parley, he has succeeded in setting a pace for other Candidates to follow, being the first and the only Candidate that has so far interfaced with the media to clearly enunciate his plans on his ambition as he battle for one of the most covetous positions in Akiscom next general election.
With this development, some Akwa Ibomites like Comrade Inyang Inyang , Queensley John, Quincy Jones, Sunny Eno amongst others, who interacted with newsmen after the parley believed that he will be held accountable by his words if voted into power as they look forward to other contestants to also embark on media parley which they opined is necessary and as a platform for them to articulate their plans for Akiscom if voted into the different Offices they aspire to.
They stated that Pastor Anietie Ukpong’s step is a departure from the usual campaigns normally carried out by Candidates in Akiscom previous general elections to Senatorial Districts, Regional, LGAs Associations meetings as well as to Leaders of Thought to solicit for votes and support for their ambitions.
They reasoned that if other candidates should follow suit and engage in similar media chats to enunciate their plans for Akiscom if voted into office, that the people will hold them accountable by their words in the event of non performances.

A million naira question that some Presidential & Vice Presidential Candidates and others contending for top positions in the forthcoming election will need to answer as the Community prepares for the general election in few weeks to come.
