Renowned Nigerian actor, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, is dead after he suffered a cardiac arrest, just as Kate Henshaw’s mother has died.

Mr Ibu, who died at the age of 63, underwent two major surgeries that led to the eventual amputation of his leg in 2023.

The death of Mr Ibu was confirmed on Saturday by the National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas.

In a post on his Instagram page, which announced Mr Ibu’s death, Rollas also reported the death of the mother of actress Kate Henshaw.

He wrote: “Sad Day for Actors Guild of Nigeria.

“Kate Henshaw lost her mother earlier today and Mr lbu suffered cardiac arrest according to his manager for 24 years Mr Don Single Nwuzor.

“I announce with deep sense of grief that Mr Ibu didn’t make it.
“May his soul rest in peace.”
