Afenifere, YUF, Yoruba General Assembly, Olubadan, Oluwo, Okere of Saki, Others Condemn Coup Advocates at Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda Summit

Resolutions at the well attended South West Congress of Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda Southwest Summit organised by Yoruba Patriots’ Movement (YPM) under the leadership of Hon (Barrister) Oladosu Oladipo, Chairman, Planning Committee, and Southwest Coalition of Civil Societies led by Comrade Awa Bamiji, Secretary of the Planning Committee, among other political decisions have been made public.

The resolutions, all of which formed a communique of the Summit, were released in a statement issued by the Secretary, Planning Committee of the event, Comrade Bamiji on Thursday.

The part of the communique noted as follows:

“That the bold reforms of the current administration are inevitable and necessary for the sustainable development and prosperity of Nigeria;

“That we acknowledge the temporary discomfort and pains in the country as a result of the ongoing reforms. Oluwo offers Morenikeji, 9 year old talented Artist, Scholarship at Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda Southwest Summit held in Ibadan

“That an attempt by some unpatriotic and mischievous forces to exploit the current discomfort to call for Military take over is misguided, unacceptable and out of the question

“That all Nigerians must stand united in defence of democracy and the future of Nigeria

“That it is incumbent upon all Yoruba elders and stakeholders to remain steadfast in supporting the ongoing reforms and work closely with stakeholders from other regions of Nigeria to support the current administration

“That Democrats within and outside Nigeria have a moral responsibility to heed the call to defend our hard earned democracy

“That the National Assembly should enact a law to establish the Southwest Development Commission

“That Okere Gorge Dam in Isegun, the Owala Dam, Oba Oke, Osun State that have been abandoned for decades should be completed and used for large-scale irrigation and power generation as conceptualised

“That a Peace and Productivity Commission be established by the National Assembly Act to promote peace and drive the nexus between peace and productivity in the land

“That the Southwest Governors should invest in large scale agriculture and priotise food production and security

“That all Governors and public Office Holders should compliment the vision and mission of the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr President

“That there’s urgent need for subsequent convocations of such a beautiful Summit across Southwest States at least once in 3 months till 2031 and the sitting is now looking in direction of Lagos State as the Host of the next edition of the Summit and this proposal is awaiting blessings of Chief Adebisi Akande, Aremo Olusegun Osoba and Prince Tajudeen Olusi, Leader of Yoruba Leaders of Thought and Chairman, Governance Advisory Council, Lagos State, and Chief Pius Akinyelure, Chairman, Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL)”.

The statement added that present at the Summit were General Alani Akinrinade (Rtd), Leader, Yoruba Assembly and Chairman of the Summit, represented by former Vice – Chancellor of University of Ibadan (UI), who doubles as former Minister of Health, Prof Isaac Adewole; Guest Speaker, Emeritus Prof Olu Aina, who delivered the topic, “A call for military takeover by Opposition: It’s time to defend Democracy by Democrats”; His Imperial Majesty, Oba Mahud Olalekan Ishola Balogun Alli Okunmade II, Olubadan of Ibadanland, represented by his Princess Oyebunmi Oladepo (a.k.a Orekelewa); five Discussants, including Oluwo himself, Their Royal Majesties, Oba Isiaka Balogun Oyero, Oba of Ketu, Kosofe Local Government, Lagos State, Oba Jagunmolu III of Shomolu Bariga, Archbishop Ayo Ladigbolu, Leader, Yoruba Unity Forum, Comrade Jare Ajayi (National Publicity Secretary of Afenifere); Comrade Awa Bamiji represented Prince Tajudeen Olusi and Prof (Mrs) Bolanle Awe, Hon. Ayo Afolabi, Publicity Secretary, All Progressives Congress (APC), Southwest Zone and Secretary, Afenifere Renewal Group (ARG), Alhaji A.Y. Lawal; Babaloja General of Saki, who represented Okere of Saki; and League of Imams in pure white dresses.

Also present were Comrade (Mrs) Kehinde Ola-Oni and her Twin Sister, Queen (Comrade) Taiwo Adesida, Chief (Mrs) J.T Raimi, Asiwaju Oloja of Oyo State, Chief (Mrs) Labake Lawal, Otun Iyaloja of Ibadanland, Hon Temilola Akinade, Lagos State Chairperson of Inter-Party Advisory Council, the first female in Nigeria to occupy such a position, Hon. Sola Oladepo, former Commissioner, Osun State, Chief Daniel Ebahor JP + from Delta State, of Presidential Support Group, Hon Emmanuel O. Ademowo Ameye, Leader of former Parliamentarian Caucus, Oyo State, Hon Tunji Olatunde, former Chief Whip, Osun State House of Assembly, Comrade Dauda Ajeja Lawal of Voters’ Assembly represented Comrade Mashood Erubami Mr Rotimi Osuntola, resident of Canada, Hon. Oladejo Moruf Lamolo, former Chairman, APC, Oluyole Local Government and member of the Oyo State APC Exco, Olori Bunmi Adebayo Faleti and Alhaja Abego Lawal led “No woman, no Nation” female Group to the venue, Leaders of various Yoruba Self – Determination Groups, June 12 Activists, Labour Unionists, YPM, Student Unionists, Artisans, Market men and women and other eminent personalities in attendance.

Part of the side attractions was Oluwo’s offer of scholarship to Morenikeji, 9 year old talented Artist, at Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda South West Summit.
