Nnenna Onaeze Marries Her Heartthrob, Ugochukwu Okoye, In Grand Style
Dr. Miss Telma Nnenna Onaeze, who hails from Umuakashi in Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State and Dr. Ugochukwu Okoye from Umuawulu in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State traditionally tied the marital knot in Nsukka recently.
The traditional marriage started exactly 2:45pm with an opening prayer at the Urban Girls’ Secondary School field in Nsukka.
During the first outing of the bride and the Ashoebi, the traditional bridal train greeted the visitors and in the second outing, they carried out the task of selling eggs.
The third and final outing was for the bride to identify the groom by taking a cut of palm wine from the parent of the bride, in this, Mr. Ozioko Bernard, to the groom, which was also the traditional way of letting the people know who her choice of husband was.
Thereafter, Mr Ozioko Bernard handed over Nnenna to the family of OKoye and prayed for them for God’s protection and guidance, assuring them that they would bear male and female children.
While they took their wife, Nnenna, their joy knew no bound.
Our correspondent observed that while all these activities were going on, food and drinks were being served and in great quantity.
Dancing and singing was the order of the day and as if it was not enough, the women wing of Mrs. Theresa Onaeze filed in, in their numbers in sparkling uniforms, to also grace the occasion.
The function ended few minutes after 5:00pm, with notable personalities from both Awka South and Nsukka Local Government Areas present.
Also present were the parents of the bride, Barrister Emmanuel and Mrs. Theresa Onaeze and family of the groom, Mr. Sunday & Mrs. Josephine Okoye, as well as Hon. Festus Onogwu, His Royal Highnesses Igwe Patrick Okolo and Igwe Ugwuneze, among others.
In a chat with our reporter, on how she felt on the marriage of her daughter, Mrs. Onaeze, the mother of the bride said, “So happy. I thank God for everything”.
On her wish to the daughter as a married woman, she said, “Let God bless them. Give them Children. Give them long life. Give them everything that is good enough”. On her advice to unmarried girls, “Let them wait for God; it’s only God. You can’t do it by force. It’s only God”.
