A total of nine projects executed by the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) were yesterday commissioned by the Vice-Chancellor, UNN, Prof. Charles Arizechukwu Igwe, during his one -day-projects-commissioning-tour.
Commissioning the projects, especially the Africa Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Power and Energy Development (ACE-SPED), gigantic building, which is part of a six-million dollar project, the largest single grant ever attracted to UNN since it’s existence, Prof. Igwe commended the Dean of Engineering, Prof. Emenike Ejiogu, who doubles as Director of ACE-SPED, for his able leadership of the Centre of Excellence.
Prof. Igwe also commissioned a bore-hole at the School of General Studies, Soil Science Department and the Dr. Pat Asadu e-library in the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, UNN.
The other projects include National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT) groundbreaking office building in UNN, Department of Works Services electric project, near Odenigwe gate, the Social Sciences Faculty project and that of the Department of Physics and Astronomy project, in addition to Biological Sciences Faculty.
The VC, who was accompanied by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Romanus Ezeokonkwo, who also was elected yesterday as the Acting Vice-Chancellor, his counterpart for Academic, Prof. Johnson Ozoemena Urama and the Registrar of UNN, Dr.(Mrs) Ngozi Nnebedum, among others, also conveyed the gratitude of the people to the Dean of Engineering and Director, ACE-SPED, Prof. Emenike Chinedozi Ejiogu and others for living up to the objectives of public Service.
Prof. Igwe, also expressed satisfaction at the progress of work at the NAAT secretariat where cleaning, excavation, pegging and laying of foundation, which he performed, were in progress.
