NATCOM Congratulates President Tinubu, Says Reelection as ECOWAS Chair Triumph for Regional Leadership
The National Commission Against the Proliferation of Arms, Light Weapons, and Ammunitions (NATCOM) has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his recent reelection as the Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
NATCOM described the development as a mark of significant milestone in regional leadership, dedication to promoting democracy, peace, which it said has garnered widespread acclaim.
Dr. Agaba Iduh Fidel, the Acting Director General of NATCOM, in a letter to the Nigeria’s President and Chairman of ECOWAS, said, “Your leadership and dedication to promoting democracy, peace, security, and development in the West African sub-region have been truly commendable.”
He said that it was a reflection of the trust and confidence that member states have in President Tinubu’s ability to steer ECOWAS toward a brighter future.
According to the letter, President Tinubu’s vision for a more democratic and prosperous ECOWAS resonates with stakeholders across the region. His commitment to fostering cooperation among member states will undoubtedly yield positive outcomes.
NATCOM expressed confidence that as Chairman, President Tinubu will continue championing initiatives that enhance regional security, trade, and social progress.
NATCOM noted that it eagerly anticipates collaborating with President Tinubu’s leadership to combat the proliferation of small arms, light weapons, and ammunition in West Africa through its volunteer workforce in collaboration with relevant security agencies.
