In a fervent display of solidarity, members of the North Central Youth Leaders Forum gathered on Thursday evening at the North Central Zonal meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja to rally behind Hon. Stephen Abraham Ajiya for the position of National Vice Chairman, North Central Zone.
Hon. Alfa Mma, President of the North Central Youth Leaders Forum, delivered a passionate speech emphasizing the critical importance of the National Vice Chairman position, which has been micro-zoned to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). He urged PDP leaders and stakeholders to carefully consider the capacity and leadership qualities required for the role.
“We’re all here to tell our leaders in PDP that in the North Central region, the position that was micro-zoned to the FCT is a key position we’re going to look into,” Hon. Mma stated.
“We’re pleading with our leaders and stakeholders in PDP in FCT to critically look into the position of the National Central Chairman of the PDP and see that the person to occupy the position must have the capacity to lead.”
Hon. Mma highlighted the extensive deliberations and unanimous decision of the North Central Youth Leaders Forum, which identified Hon. Stephen Abraham Ajiya as the most capable candidate for the position. He called on all PDP members, leaders, women, and youths to support Ajiya’s candidacy to avoid past mistakes in leadership selection.
“We’re begging PDP faithful members, we’re begging our leaders in PDP, we’re begging women and youths in PDP, we’re begging the whole nation in PDP, to avoid mistakes in the choice of a Zonal leader in the North Central region,” he implored. “Hon. Ajiya is the person we want to stand for us as the Zonal chairman in the North Central Zone.”
Hon. Mma praised Ajiya’s dedication and tireless efforts for the PDP, noting his widespread support among women and youths in the FCT. “Ajiya is a person that never gets tired when they talk about anything in PDP; he’s always there, morning, afternoon, and night, Ajiya has been there to work for PDP. He has been doing this for a long time and everybody knows him.”
Addressing concerns about attempts to impose an unknown candidate, Hon. Mma warned against such actions, emphasizing the need for proven capacity and leadership as the party prepares for the 2027 elections. “Today, because of some persons’ interests – my brother na my brother, my friend na my friend – they are ganging up to impose a candidate on us in the FCT and we don’t want this to happen. The person they want to bring out, nobody knows him in the FCT; we don’t know his capacity. We’re talking of capacity in PDP against 2027. We’re pleading, Hon. Ajiya is the answer to this position of North Central zonal chairmanship in PDP.”
The rally concluded with a resounding call for unity and support for Hon. Stephen Abraham Ajiya, as the North Central Youth Leaders Forum reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring capable and effective leadership within the PDP.
The members of the group displayed placards with various inscriptions, urging support for their preferred candidate, Hon Stephen Abraham Ajiya.
