Forum Welcomes Competitive Contest, Warns of Imposition As It Reaffirms Endorsement of Hon. Ajiya for North Central PDP Chair

In a significant move ahead of the upcoming North Central zonal congress, the North Central Unity Forum for Good Governance Initiative has expressed its support for a competitive electoral process while reaffirming its endorsement of Hon. Stephen Abraham Ajiya for the position of National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the North Central Zone.

The forum, in a press release on Tuesday in Abuja, emphasized the importance of transparency and credibility in the electoral process, which they believe is vital for the growth and unity of the party.

The forum’s Secretary General, Zaccheaus Dauda, stated, “We believe that a transparent and credible election process is essential for the growth and unity of our party.” This sentiment underscores the forum’s commitment to fostering a democratic environment within political parties, encouraging all aspirants to actively participate in the electoral process in the PDP.

The statement noted that while the majority of stakeholders in the North Central Zone have rallied behind Hon. Ajiya, the forum welcomed healthy competition, asserting that it will only serve to strengthen the party. “Despite the fact that a majority of stakeholders in the zone have endorsed the candidacy of Hon. Stephen Abraham Ajiya for the Zonal PDP Vice Chairman role, we believe that competition will only strengthen our party and ensure that the best candidate emerges,” the release noted.

Hon. Ajiya’s track record as a grassroots politician has also been reiterated as a key factor in his endorsement. The forum praised his “exceptional maturity and tolerance,” qualities that they believe make him the most qualified candidate for the position. “His dedication to the well-being of the PDP and his ability to connect with the people at the grassroots level make him the best-prepared candidate for the job,” the statement read.
