Delta State Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), Comrade Reuben Izeze, has officially registered with the All Progressives Congress (APC), aligning with the new political wave in the state.
Izeze, who was accompanied by the Councillor of Jeremi Ward 2, Mrs. Ejaita Ebreamese, was received by the APC Local Government Area (LGA) Chairman, Engr. Sir Isaiah Kekeghe, and the Ward Chairman, Mr. Emuakpeje Onofeghara, at Oginibo in Ughelli South Local Government Area.
Speaking during the brief ceremony, Izeze stated that his involvement in politics and public service has always been geared toward the development of communities and the people.
โOver the years, I have done my best to represent the interests of the state, my local government, and my community, all in pursuit of growth and development.
โAt Asaba, I strive to attract development to Ughelli South, Ughievwen, and the Oginibo community. I do not waste time on conflict or unnecessary arguments.
โAnyone who wants to fight should take it up with God, for I am like the proverbial palm tree planted by the riverside.
โI do not oppress others or take what belongs to them. I believe in equity, fairness, and justice. Let everyone receive what is theirs, just as I hope to receive what is mine unhindered.
โEveryone engages in politics for their own interests. My interest is the development of Oginibo and the empowerment of our youth through education, skill acquisition, and employment opportunities.
โOver time, I have never considered political affiliation when assisting anyone from Oginibo, Ughievwen, Ughelli South, or other parts of the state. Once you are qualified, I do all I can to support you.โ
The Works Commissioner added that he has been supporting party officials in the LGA with monthly stipends and intends to continue doing so after the APC Congress is held.
โI have been providing monthly stipends to officials of our former party at both the local government and ward levels, not because I intended to run for office, but because Governor Sheriff Oborevworiโs administration believes in inclusive governance through the MORE Agenda and the โUkodoโ philosophy.
โBy Godโs grace, once the APC Congress is held, the same support will be extended to the new executives across the LGA and the five Ughievwen wards.
โSince the advent of GSM, I have not changed my number. I still use the same line, and it remains open to calls and text messages,โ he said.
Earlier, Chief Sir Kekeghe, while receiving Izeze into the party, commended his style of politics and prayed for his continued rise in political stature.
Later, in a post on his Facebook page on Wednesday morning, Izeze explained that the move was in accordance with the clear directive of the immediate past chairman of his former political party, the PDP.
โMy Ward Councillor, Mrs. Ejaita Ebreamese, and I formally registered yesterday with our new party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), in our hometown of Oginibo.
โFor us, the process was straightforward, as loyalty has always been our guiding principle.
โFor the umpteenth time, let me reaffirm my strong belief in the wisdom of my boss and leader, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, in leading us into the Renewed Hope for MORE Agenda.
โAs I sang to my comrades recently: โIf you dey follow Oborevwori, no follow corner corner.โ
โI am now the latest and newest member of the APC in my polling unit, village, and ward.
โConsequently, I am at the bottom of the register, and it would be wrong for me to suddenly seek leadership over the original stakeholders of the APC in my ward.
โThey are my leaders, which is why my registration took place here in the village. I am fully content to serve and follow for as long as God grants me life.
โLet those who enjoy the optics of braggadocio and political brouhaha continue with their illusions of emerging as leaders in future APC congresses.
โThere is only one leader (Osu) of the APC in Delta State, and that is His Excellency Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State. The rest of us are simply followers,โ he concluded.
