Hon. Barr. Alabi Kolade David has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Somolu Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives after securing a sweeping victory in the party’s primary election conducted late Friday night.
The primary election, supervised by the APC’s seven-man electoral delegate panel led by Rt. Hon. Sale Dolu, produced what party officials described as one of the most emphatic victories recorded across Lagos State during the exercise held for all 21 Federal House of Representatives seats.
According to the officially announced results for Somolu Federal Constituency, Alabi Kolade David, a former National President of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), polled 23,690 votes to clinch the party’s ticket, defeating Hon. Rotimi Olowo and other aspirants who participated in the contest.
Party stakeholders said the outcome reflected growing confidence in the leadership credentials and political influence of the APC flagbearer within Somolu and beyond.
The exercise witnessed massive mobilization and participation by party faithful across the state, with Somolu Federal Constituency standing out as one of the areas where the APC recorded overwhelming support and strong consensus among delegates and supporters.
Speaking shortly after his emergence, Alabi Kolade David expressed appreciation to the party leadership and the organizing committee for conducting what he described as a transparent and credible process.
He also reaffirmed his commitment to the APC and the people of Somolu, while calling on party members and supporters to unite ahead of the general election.
“This victory belongs to all of us,” he declared. “We must now work together, not in silos, to secure the final mandate. The trust you have placed in me will be honored with service, accessibility, and results.”
Political observers and party leaders noted that the primary outcome signals renewed momentum for the APC in Somolu as preparations intensify for the next electoral contest.
Meanwhile, supporters of the APC candidate issued a message of appreciation to residents and party faithful in Somolu for their support throughout the primary process.
In a statement released after the victory, the supporters described the outcome as proof that dedication, service, and genuine connection with the people remain the foundation of political success.
“Thank you, Somolu. We are truly overwhelmed by the love, support, prayers, and confidence you have consistently shown,” the statement read.
“This is far more than politics — it is proof that service, dedication, and a genuine bond with the people will always prevail. Your voices have been heard loud and clear, and your trust is the mandate we carry forward.
“By the grace of God, the good work will continue. Together, we move forward for a greater, stronger Somolu.”
