The Obidient Movement has called on eligible Nigerians to urgently obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 general elections, warning that the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise represents the final opportunity for many citizens to participate in the country’s next electoral cycle.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the National Coordinator of the movement, Yunusa Tanko, the group urged Nigerians aged 18 years and above who are yet to register to take advantage of the exercise being conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission before it ends on July 10, 2026.
The movement described the voter registration exercise as a defining moment in Nigeria’s democratic journey, insisting that no responsible citizen should remain indifferent at a time when the country is yearning for transformative leadership and national renewal.
According to the statement, the Obidient Movement was founded on the collective aspiration for good governance and accountable leadership, stressing that participation in the electoral process is both a constitutional right and a civic obligation owed to future generations.
The group argued that widespread voter participation remains critical to addressing challenges such as corruption, insecurity, unemployment and poverty, noting that PVCs are essential instruments for citizens seeking to influence the direction of governance in the country.
The movement also appealed to civil society organisations, religious institutions, the media, community leaders, private organisations, traders and government agencies to intensify public mobilisation efforts aimed at encouraging voter registration and active participation in elections.
It warned that voter apathy often creates opportunities for poor leadership to thrive, adding that democracy can only flourish when citizens actively engage in the process of electing their leaders.
The statement further advised Nigerians seeking replacement of lost PVCs, transfer of polling units or correction of personal data to utilise the online CVR portal provided by INEC or visit the nearest state or local government offices of the commission nationwide between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
The movement also reminded the public that INEC would display the voters’ register from July 23 to July 29, 2026, to allow citizens scrutinise the records and report any irregularities or errors for correction.
Reaffirming its commitment to democratic participation, the Obidient Movement urged Nigerians not to delay in obtaining their voter cards, declaring that registered voters possess the power to shape the nation’s future through the ballot.
The statement concluded with the movement’s popular slogan, expressing optimism that “A New Nigeria is Possible.”
