The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has distanced itself from purported endorsement lists circulating across some states, particularly in the South East, describing them as unofficial and misleading.
In a press statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Osa Director Esq., the NDC leadership said the lists did not emanate from the national headquarters and were not approved by the party.
The party explained that the alleged endorsement lists failed to include the names of several aspirants who legitimately purchased the party’s Expression of Interest Forms, thereby raising questions about their authenticity and intent.
“The national leadership of the NDC is not aware of any such endorsement lists, nor has any list been authorised or approved by the party leadership,” the statement said.
The party therefore urged all State Executive Committees, party members, stakeholders, and the general public to disregard the circulating documents, insisting that they do not reflect the official position of the Nigeria Democratic Congress.
Reaffirming its commitment to internal democracy, the NDC stated that all aspirants who duly purchased Expression of Interest Forms and successfully passed the screening process would be allowed to participate fully in the party primaries.
According to the statement, the primaries would be conducted either through consensus arrangements or direct primary elections in accordance with the party’s constitution and democratic principles.
The opposition party further assured members and aspirants that the leadership remained committed to transparency, fairness, and due process throughout its internal electoral process.
The clarification comes amid heightened political activities and preparations for party primaries across the country, as political parties intensify efforts ahead of forthcoming elections.
