The Nasarawa State chapter of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) has successfully concluded its primary elections ahead of forthcoming electoral contests, describing the exercise as peaceful, transparent and fully compliant with relevant electoral laws and party regulations.
The primaries, which took place on May 29, 2026, at the party’s secretariat located at Suite 47, Kaura Plaza, Jos Road, Lafia, were conducted under the supervision of officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and national leaders of the party.
According to a statement issued by the party leadership, the exercise adhered strictly to the provisions of the YPP Constitution, the Electoral Act and other electoral guidelines governing the nomination of candidates for elective offices.
The party noted that the process was orderly and well coordinated, attracting the participation of stakeholders from across the state and reinforcing confidence in the party’s commitment to internal democracy.

The statement further disclosed that the election was monitored by INEC officials, while senior party functionaries, including the National Women Leader and the North Central Coordinator of the YPP, were present throughout the exercise to ensure compliance with laid-down procedures.
Party leaders commended delegates and stakeholders for their maturity, discipline and commitment to democratic principles, noting that extensive consultations and broad-based consensus among party members contributed significantly to the smooth conduct of the primaries.
According to the party, the successful completion of the exercise demonstrates the YPP’s determination to strengthen democratic institutions within its ranks and provide a credible platform for political participation in Nasarawa State.
The leadership expressed appreciation to INEC officials, party executives, delegates and supporters whose efforts contributed to the peaceful conduct of the primaries.
It added that the transparent nature of the exercise further underscores the party’s readiness to present candidates capable of advancing good governance, accountability and people-centred leadership in the state.
The party reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining unity among members and sustaining the democratic culture that guided the conduct of the primaries, while calling on supporters to remain steadfast as preparations intensify for the next phase of the electoral process.
