The Amir (National Leader) of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat of Nigeria, Barrister Alatoye Folorunso Azeez, has led a delegation of more than 50 Nigerian Ahmadi Muslims to the 2026 Jalsa Salana UK, the annual international Islamic conference of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, currently taking place at Oakland Farm, Hadeeqatul Mahdi, Surrey, United Kingdom.
The three-day conference, which commenced on Friday, July 24, and concludes on Sunday, July 26, has attracted more than 50,000 participants from over 90 countries, making it one of the world’s largest annual Islamic gatherings dedicated to promoting religious enlightenment, peace, unity and mutual understanding.
Organisers said the 60th edition of the conference is designed to strengthen participants’ spiritual knowledge while fostering peaceful coexistence and greater understanding among people of different cultures and backgrounds.
A major highlight of the convention is the presence of the worldwide Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the Fifth Khalifatul Masih, who is expected to deliver keynote addresses throughout the three-day event. His sermons and speeches are regarded as offering spiritual guidance on contemporary global challenges through the teachings of Islam.
The conference is also drawing the participation of parliamentarians, diplomats, civic leaders and distinguished guests from across the globe, all expected to address delegates on issues relating to peace, unity, interfaith harmony and mutual respect.
The international event is being broadcast live on Muslim Television Ahmadiyya (MTA) International from London, with rebroadcasts by more than 20 television stations across different continents.
In Nigeria, viewers are following the proceedings through WAP TV, MITV and Tambarin TV Hausa, which are rebroadcasting the conference to audiences nationwide.
To ensure extensive media coverage, several Nigerian media organisations have deployed correspondents to London. They include the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Voice of Nigeria (VON), TVC Communications, Radio France Internationale (RFI) Hausa Service, MITV and Ben TV London.
The conference is also receiving coverage from 14 African journalists representing Ghana, Sierra Leone, Côte d’Ivoire, Benin Republic, Southern Africa, Tanzania, Malawi, Uganda, Kenya, Senegal and The Gambia.
The Nigerian media delegation is headed by Dr Qasim Akinreti, who also serves as the Media Lead of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat of Nigeria.
Beyond the United Kingdom venue, organisers have arranged live broadcasts from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat Mosque in Ojokoro, Lagos, and Idogo, Ogun State, with the feeds expected to connect Ahmadiyya centres around the world.
According to a statement issued by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, the conference is aimed at strengthening the faith and spiritual development of participants.
“The key purpose of the Islamic convention is to enable every sincere individual to personally experience religious benefits, broaden their knowledge and deepen their understanding of Allah Almighty by the grace and opportunity given to them,” the statement said.
Organisers added that global audiences can follow the proceedings through the Jalsa Salana UK App, available on the App Store and Google Play, as well as via Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and other social media platforms.
The annual gathering remains one of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community’s flagship international events, bringing together thousands of worshippers, scholars, public officials and media professionals in pursuit of peaceful dialogue, religious education and global understanding.
