….As Institute Targets Innovation, Business Leadership, Startup Growth Across Africa
ABUJA, NIGERIA — The Institute of Business Innovation & Entrepreneurship (IBIE) has officially commenced operations in Nigeria, marking a major step in its continental expansion strategy aimed at advancing entrepreneurship, innovation, research and business leadership across Africa.
The institute announced the development in a statement issued on Tuesday, describing Nigeria’s entry into its global network as a strategic milestone that will strengthen entrepreneurship education and foster innovation-driven economic development in West Africa.
As part of the expansion, IBIE has appointed Mr. Oru Leonard as Faculty Member and Authorized Representative for Nigeria, entrusting him with the responsibility of driving the institute’s programmes and strategic engagements across the country.
In his new role, Leonard will oversee institutional partnerships, professional training, startup ecosystem development, research initiatives and entrepreneurship programmes designed to equip Nigerian entrepreneurs and business leaders with globally relevant skills.
Providing academic leadership for the Nigerian operations is Mahamud Hasan, Lead Faculty of IBIE, who will coordinate curriculum development, faculty engagement, international partnerships and innovation-focused learning initiatives.
According to the institute, Hasan’s leadership will reinforce IBIE’s commitment to delivering world-class education while strengthening entrepreneurial ecosystems capable of producing transformative business leaders.
The institute disclosed that it plans to work closely with universities, government institutions, private sector organisations, startups, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), as well as development partners to deliver executive education, professional certification, business incubation, research and leadership development programmes.
The initiative, it noted, is intended to stimulate innovation, promote enterprise development and build the capacity of entrepreneurs to contribute meaningfully to economic growth.
Speaking on the expansion, IBIE Lead Faculty, Mahamud Hasan, described Nigeria as one of Africa’s most vibrant innovation destinations, with enormous entrepreneurial potential waiting to be fully harnessed.
“Nigeria is one of Africa’s fastest-growing innovation ecosystems, rich with entrepreneurial talent and opportunities. Through IBIE Nigeria, we are committed to building strategic partnerships, empowering innovators, and developing future business leaders who will drive sustainable economic growth across the continent,” Hasan said.
The institute stated that the Nigerian expansion aligns with its long-term vision of building a robust international network dedicated to innovation, entrepreneurship, research excellence and cross-border collaboration.
It expressed confidence that Nigeria’s strategic position and dynamic entrepreneurial landscape would make the country a regional hub for entrepreneurship education, innovation and the development of high-impact startups across West Africa.
IBIE further reaffirmed its commitment to working with stakeholders to nurture innovative enterprises, strengthen business ecosystems and prepare a new generation of entrepreneurs capable of driving sustainable economic transformation across Africa.
The institute said it looks forward to partnering with public and private sector organisations to expand access to quality entrepreneurship education, promote research and innovation, and support businesses that will shape the future of the African economy.
