Former President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki, is expected to commission a state-of-the-art Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Centre in Azare, Katagum Local Government Area of Bauchi State, in what is being described as a significant milestone for digital innovation in Nigeria’s North-East.
The ICT facility, according to a statement signed by Isa Shehu on behalf of the Usman Adamu Support Group, is the largest privately established technology hub in the North-East and is designed to expand access to digital education, innovation and entrepreneurship for young people across the region.
The group said the centre reflects a strategic commitment to empowering the next generation with the technological skills required to compete in an increasingly digital global economy, while creating new pathways for employment, enterprise development and economic inclusion.
It explained that the facility will offer practical ICT training, digital literacy programmes and innovation support services, enabling youths, students, entrepreneurs and professionals to develop relevant skills and participate more effectively in the country’s growing technology ecosystem.
According to the support group, the benefits of the project will extend well beyond Azare, positioning the centre as a regional resource capable of serving communities throughout the North-East and helping to narrow the digital gap that has limited access to technology-driven opportunities in many parts of the region.
The group further noted that the initiative demonstrates the critical role of private-sector investment in complementing government efforts to promote human capital development, innovation and sustainable economic growth.
It praised the vision behind the project, stressing that genuine development is achieved not only through physical infrastructure but also by investing in knowledge, creativity and the capacity of young people to drive social and economic transformation.
The group expressed confidence that Dr. Saraki’s commissioning of the ICT Centre will reinforce the importance of technology as a catalyst for development and inspire greater investment in digital infrastructure across the North-East.
