ABUJA, NIGERIA — A coalition of civil society organisations has applauded Assistant Inspector General of Police, Jimoh Moshood, describing his career in the Nigeria Police Force as a model of transparency, discipline and integrity worthy of emulation by serving and aspiring law enforcement officers.
The commendation came in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja by the Coalition of Civil Society Groups for Peace, Security, Good Governance, Equity and Justice, which said AIG Moshood’s professional record stands out at a time when public institutions are under increasing public scrutiny and accountability demands.
The coalition noted that while civil society organisations have a responsibility to expose institutional shortcomings, they also owe the nation a duty to recognise public officials whose careers exemplify ethical leadership and exemplary service.
According to the group, Moshood has consistently distinguished himself throughout his career, from his tenure as Force Public Relations Officer to his elevation as an Assistant Inspector General of Police, maintaining what it described as exceptional operational transparency and administrative competence.
The coalition credited the senior police officer with strengthening public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force through effective communication, particularly during his time as the Force spokesperson, when he regularly engaged the media and civil society on policing and national security matters.
It stated that his openness, professionalism and commitment to timely dissemination of information helped bridge the communication gap between the police and the public, fostering greater understanding and trust.
The group further observed that Moshood’s career has remained free from the controversies and misconduct allegations that have tainted the reputations of some senior public officials, attributing his steady rise within the Force to merit, diligence and strict adherence to professional ethics.
It added that his leadership style has continued to inspire younger officers by demonstrating that dedication, discipline and integrity remain viable pathways to career advancement within the nation’s security institutions.
Passing what it described as a “massive vote of confidence” on the senior police officer, the coalition praised his contributions to crime prevention, internal discipline and national security, describing him as an officer whose service reflects unwavering commitment to the rule of law and the protection of citizens.
The organisation also called on younger police personnel to emulate Moshood’s professional values while urging Nigerians to continue supporting officers who demonstrate commitment to protecting lives and maintaining public safety.
The coalition reaffirmed its commitment to recognising public servants whose conduct strengthens public confidence in governance and national institutions, insisting that celebrating exemplary service is essential to promoting accountability, professionalism and institutional excellence across the country’s public sector.
