The Labour Party candidate for Bende Federal Constituency in Abia State, Dr. Chima Anyaso, has declared that the 2027 general elections will usher in a new era of people-driven politics, insisting that the electorate must reclaim their power from political godfathers and backroom arrangements.
Anyaso, a businessman and philanthropist, made the declaration in a post on his verified Facebook page, where he vowed that the forthcoming election would not follow the pattern of previous political contests characterised by candidate imposition and voter apathy.
The Labour Party candidate, who described 2027 as a defining moment for the people of Bende, declared: “2027 will NOT be business as usual. The people will decide, their voices will be heard, and their votes will count!”
He maintained that political representation should be determined by the electorate rather than by political interests operating behind the scenes.
“The power belongs to the people,” Anyaso said. “For too long, decisions have been made over the heads of the people. That cycle ends now. Every vote in Bende must count, and every voice must matter.”
He said his proposed representation at the National Assembly would be anchored on grassroots participation, transparency and accountability, promising to place the interests of constituents at the centre of his legislative agenda.
Anyaso also urged eligible voters across Bende Federal Constituency to safeguard their Permanent Voter Cards and remain vigilant throughout the electoral process, stressing the importance of active citizen participation in determining the outcome of the 2027 elections.
His emergence as the Labour Party candidate has continued to generate positive reactions among some party supporters and community stakeholders, with some describing him as “a round peg in a round hole.”
