…Pledges Effective Representation, Completion Of Abandoned Projects
The 2027 senatorial ambition of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for Abia North, Rt. Hon. Uko Ndukwe Nkole, has received a major boost following consultations with traditional rulers, community leaders and religious stakeholders across Ohafia, Abiriba and Nkporo.
Nkole, a former member of the House of Representatives who represented Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency, commenced his consultation tour of Abia North with a series of meetings aimed at seeking the support, prayers and guidance of the people ahead of the 2027 general election.
The consultations, which began in Ohafia and continued through Abiriba to Nkporo, brought the senatorial candidate before traditional institutions and grassroots stakeholders as he presented his vision for effective representation and accelerated development of Abia North.
At the Ohafia Traditional Rulers Council in Achichi Elu, Ohafia, Nkole was received by traditional rulers and political stakeholders, including NDC Abia State Chairman, Mr. Chidi Ukah; Hon. Chinedu Ijeoma; NDC Abia State Women’s Leader, Mrs. Nkechi Ikenga; and Ohafia LGA Party Chairman, Mr. Ete Udoh.
Addressing the traditional rulers, Nkole pledged to bring his legislative experience and track record from the House of Representatives to the Senate if elected.
He recalled projects and interventions facilitated during his tenure, particularly those that impacted communities across the more than 23 villages of Ohafia, promising to build on the experience by pursuing meaningful federal presence across Abia North.
A major component of his agenda, he said, would be the completion of abandoned and non-performing projects across the senatorial district.
Nkole argued that projects initiated with public funds should not be allowed to deteriorate or become wasted investments, stressing that he would pursue their revival and completion for the benefit of the people.
The Udumeze of Ohafia Ancient Kingdom, His Royal Paramountcy, Ezie Ohamaoha Elder Awa Orji Udonsi, and members of the Ohafia Traditional Rulers Council commended Nkole for consulting the traditional institution and identifying with the people.
The traditional ruler subsequently offered the senatorial candidate a royal blessing as he proceeded with the next phase of his consultation.
From Ohafia, Nkole moved to Abiriba, where he met with the Abiriba Traditional Rulers and other community stakeholders.
The former federal lawmaker told the traditional institution that his aspiration was driven by a desire to provide purposeful leadership, attract development projects and strengthen federal presence across Abia North.
He pledged to make the interests of the people the foundation of his representation, while ensuring that the senatorial district receives tangible benefits from the Federal Government.
The Abiriba traditional institution, including HRM/Bar Eze Kalu Kalu Ogbu, Enachionken of Abiriba; HRH Eze Benjamin Agu Effa of Agboji; HRH Eze Eme Uguru Ikpoka, Ukpaghari Amogudu; and Eze Otisu Ukiwo Alaoke Ihungwu, received the candidate and offered him their royal blessings.
Nkole subsequently interacted with members of the Abiriba/Nkporo community and other stakeholders before proceeding to Nkporo.
In Nkporo, he visited the traditional rulers and key stakeholders of the ancient kingdom, where he was received by the Ezeaja of Nkporo Ancient Kingdom, HRM Ezeaja Jeff Kalu Otisi, alongside members of the Nkporo Autonomous Communities Traditional Rulers Council.
The Council was led by its Chairman, HRH Eze Dr. Agwu Nwankwo Kalu (LUNA), Aloke I of Agbaja Autonomous Community, while its Secretary is HRH Eze Innoce Mba, Okwe III of Etitiama Autonomous Community.
Others present included HRH Eze Otuu Irukwu, Afo I of Amafor Autonomous Community; HRH Eze Arunsi Nwankwo Uka, Agboha I of Agboha Autonomous Community; HRH Eze Dr. O. U. Oji, Ugah II of Ndi Nko Autonomous Community; and HRH Eze John Isiah, Ewaluochie II of Ukwa Autonomous Community.
Presenting his vision to the traditional institution, Nkole reiterated that his aspiration to represent Abia North in the Senate was centred on service, development and effective representation.
He again pledged to pursue impactful federal projects and programmes while working to ensure that abandoned or stalled government projects across the senatorial district are revisited and completed.
According to him, such projects represent public resources and were initiated to improve the lives of citizens and should therefore not be left to waste.
The Ezeaja of Nkporo Ancient Kingdom and his Council of Eze Ogo, alongside the Nkporo Autonomous Communities Traditional Rulers Council and the Nkporo & Abiriba Ministers and Church Leaders Conference, welcomed Nkole and offered him royal and spiritual blessings ahead of the 2027 election.
The consultations across Ohafia, Abiriba and Nkporo mark the commencement of Nkole’s wider engagement with traditional institutions, community leaders, religious leaders, women, youths and other stakeholders across Abia North.
The former federal lawmaker is seeking the mandate to represent the senatorial district at the National Assembly, presenting his legislative experience and record of service as part of his credentials.
The consultation tour also provided an opportunity for Nkole to reconnect with grassroots stakeholders and outline his vision for a more developed, better represented and economically vibrant Abia North.
With royal and spiritual blessings secured across the three communities, the NDC senatorial candidate is expected to continue his consultations across other parts of Abia North as he intensifies his preparations for the 2027 general election.
