ABUJA, NIGERIA — The leadership of OKAY A New Nigeria, a political advocacy group, has commenced early mobilisation for the 2027 general elections, setting a target of securing more than 10 million votes for the Obi/Kwankwaso ticket.
The group disclosed this during a high-level courtesy visit to Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Vice Presidential Candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, at his Abuja residence.
The delegation, led by the National Coordinator of OKAY A New Nigeria, Hon. Chibuisi Mba, said the visit was aimed at formally congratulating Kwankwaso and presenting the organisation’s strategic mobilisation plans ahead of the 2027 electioneering season.
Speaking with journalists after the meeting, Mba said the group had resolved to embark on an extensive grassroots campaign designed to mobilise voters across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory.
According to him, the organisation’s central objective is to build a broad-based movement around competent, accountable and people-oriented leadership.
“We came to intimate His Excellency on our plans and to seek his guidance,” Mba said.
“Nigerians are tired of the old order. Our mandate is to ensure that competent, people-oriented leadership emerges in 2027, and we believe the Obi/Kwankwaso ticket represents that hope.”
Mba described the proposed political combination as “the movement Nigerians have been waiting for,” adding that the organisation would focus its activities on grassroots sensitisation, voter education and youth engagement.
He said the 10-million-vote target was not merely a political slogan but part of a structured mobilisation strategy that would involve sustained engagement with voters at the community level.
Kwankwaso, who received the delegation, reportedly commended the initiative and urged the group to maintain a focused, organised and issue-based approach to political mobilisation.
The former Kano State governor also advised the organisation to place greater emphasis on voter education and direct engagement with citizens, including door-to-door campaigns.
He identified economic hardship, insecurity and national unity among the critical issues that should form part of the group’s campaign messaging as it engages Nigerians ahead of the elections.
The delegation included the National Secretary, Mr. Musa Bulus Zgabawa; North Central Coordinator, Hon. Hassa Enesi; FCT Coordinator, Hon. Chukwuemeka Chinedu Mathew; and other officials of the organisation.
Mba further announced that the visit would pave the way for the group’s forthcoming National Summit in Abuja.
According to him, the summit will provide the platform for the formal unveiling of the organisation’s comprehensive campaign blueprint and the inauguration of its state-level coordination structure.
He said the group would commence the rollout of its state-by-state mobilisation programme immediately after the summit.
The development comes amid increasing political activity and alliance-building ahead of the 2027 general elections, with political organisations and support groups beginning to establish grassroots structures and define their electoral strategies well ahead of the campaign season.
For OKAY A New Nigeria, the Abuja engagement with Kwankwaso represents an early step in its stated ambition to build a nationwide mobilisation network and galvanise voters around the Obi/Kwankwaso ticket.
The organisation said it would continue consultations with political stakeholders and expand its grassroots structures as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
