UMUAHIA, Abia State — As Abia State marks its 35th anniversary, Labour Party chieftain and Bende Federal Constituency hopeful, Dr. Chima Anyaso, has congratulated Governor Alex Otti and the people of the state, describing the administration’s ongoing transformation drive as evidence that Abia is entering a new phase of development.
In a goodwill message marking the anniversary, Anyaso said the occasion provides an opportunity for Abians to reflect on the state’s journey while acknowledging the visible changes taking place across the state.
He commended the Otti administration for what he described as an unprecedented focus on infrastructure, urban renewal and purposeful governance, noting that the impact of ongoing projects is increasingly being felt across communities.
According to him, improved roads and other infrastructure projects are helping to reconnect communities, facilitate movement and create a more conducive environment for businesses and economic activities.
“Abia at 35 wears a new look and a new spirit. The story is changing. What we see on the ground today tells you that this state can stand shoulder to shoulder with the best in Nigeria.
“Governor Alex Otti has shown vision and grit, and the results speak for themselves. Abia is moving, and it is moving in the right direction,” he said.
Bende Feeling The Impact
The Bende Federal Constituency hopeful also singled out Bende Local Government Area for commendation, saying the projects delivered and ongoing in the area demonstrate that the administration’s development agenda extends beyond the major urban centres of Umuahia and Aba.
“For Bende people, we can point to real changes. Roads are opening up our communities. Movement is easier. Businesses are breathing. That is what governance should feel like.
“Development must not stop at the city gates. When rural communities get attention, the whole economy feels it. That is the kind of Abia we are building,” Anyaso stated.
He maintained that infrastructure development in rural communities has broader economic implications, as improved connectivity can stimulate commerce, agriculture, investment and other productive activities.
Looking Ahead To 2027
Anyaso said the visible projects across the state have strengthened public confidence in the Labour Party administration and created renewed optimism ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He said the people would ultimately assess political leadership based on measurable results and its impact on their daily lives.
“The people are watching. They know the difference between talk and results.
“Labour Party is ready. We will keep engaging, keep listening, and keep selling a message of development, inclusion and accountability. By 2027, Abians will choose what they can see and feel,” he added.
Calls For Collective Commitment
The Labour Party chieftain also extended his congratulations to Abians at home and in the diaspora, describing the 35th anniversary as a celebration of the resilience, enterprise and collective spirit of the people.
He called on government institutions, communities, the private sector and citizens to sustain their collective commitment to the development of the state, stressing that the future of Abia requires the contribution of all stakeholders.
Anyaso wished Governor Otti, members of the State Executive Council, the Abia State House of Assembly and the entire people of Abia a peaceful and memorable anniversary.
“Thirty-five years down, and the best is ahead. I congratulate His Excellency, Governor Alex Otti, and every Abian.
“May the years to come bring more prosperity, peace and opportunities for our people,” he concluded.
