ASABA, DELTA STATE — The Delta State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Rt. Hon. Funkekeme Solomon, has charged political support groups backing the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration to intensify grassroots engagement and educate Nigerians on the policies and achievements of the Federal Government ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Solomon gave the charge in Asaba, Delta State, while addressing representatives of more than 35 support groups at a strategic meeting aimed at strengthening grassroots mobilisation for the administration.
He said many Nigerians had yet to fully appreciate the economic and security challenges he said the Tinubu administration inherited when it assumed office in May 2023.
According to him, the country was in a critical economic and security situation at the time, requiring what he described as bold decisions to reverse the trend.
“The country was in intensive care economically and security-wise. Bold decisions needed to be made to bring Nigeria back from the brink.
“From the removal of fuel subsidy, the proposed establishment of state police and the introduction of the student loan scheme, which has brought genuine relief to parents and students, Nigeria is now on the trajectory towards returning to prosperity,” Solomon said.
He urged leaders of the various support groups to take the message of the administration’s policies and programmes to Nigerians at the grassroots, explaining what he described as the benefits of the government’s reform measures.
“Our job is to enlighten the people on the dividends of those bold actions and the positive outlook ahead so they can make a more informed decision come 2027.
“Nigeria is in the process of reconstruction, and the task requires time to be fully accomplished. That is why President Tinubu should be voted for a second term to enable him complete the job,” he said.
On the security situation, Solomon said the constitutional process towards allowing states to establish their own police forces would provide sub-national governments with greater control over their security architecture.
He argued that once the process was completed, states would be better positioned to take greater responsibility for security and address some of the challenges associated with the existing centralised policing structure.
Solomon also clarified that the Renewed Hope Ambassadors was not responsible for running the affairs of the All Progressives Congress, but was a support group working in support of the party and the Tinubu administration.
He described members of the organisation as “foot soldiers” responsible for propagating the administration’s accomplishments and mobilising grassroots support.
“We are the foot soldiers to propagate Tinubu’s accomplishments. The APC remains the only stable platform to get Nigeria back on track,” he said.
The Delta coordinator further cited the student loan scheme and what he described as the stability of the academic calendar of Nigerian universities since 2023 among the achievements of the administration.
He said the strategic meeting was part of efforts to strengthen grassroots mobilisation and ensure that Nigerians were adequately informed about the policies and programmes of the Tinubu administration as the country approaches the 2027 general elections.
