Reverend Sister In Baby Factory Scandal, Enugu Police Recover 5 Pregnant Girls
The Enugu State Police Command is working tirelessly to unravel the circumstances surrounding the alleged involvement of a Reverend Sister in Enugu in a baby factory it has uncovered in the state.
The command has, however, recovered five pregnant girls from the illegal maternity home, The Daughters of Divine Love Pro-live in Enugu North Local Government Area.
The command‘s spokesperson, Ebere
Amarizu, said in a statement in Enugu on Tuesday that policemen from the Central Police Station, Enugu stormed the location on August 21, arresting the pregnant girls along with nine babies.
The spokesman said five workers at the home were also arrested and were helping the police in the investigation.
He said the owner of the maternity, a
reverend sister, said she had an approval from relevant authorities to run the home but could not produce any evidence.
“One of the babies recovered from the home was said to be the child of a second-year student of a higher institution in Enugu who got impregnated and put to bed and had to keep the baby at the home,” he said.
Amaraizu said the police had commenced investigations into the matter.
