The Director of Radio Biafra and leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu was on Wednesday discharged by a Chief Magistrate Court in Wise 2, Abuja led by Shuaibu Usman of all counts of criminal conspiracy and ownership of an unlawful society brought against him by the federal government.
In his verdict after the federal government had dropped the charges brought against Kanu, the judge ruled that, “The accused person is hereby discharged and the case struck out.”
The Department of State Services (DSS) had withdrawn the case from the Chief Magistrate Court so as to pursue the case in a higher court, which has jurisdiction to entertain charges bordering on terrorism.
Usman was scheduled to deliver judgment on the application of the DSS on December 1, but he put it off until December 16.
