Epileptic Power Supply: Fashola Calls For Patience

The Minister for Power, Works and Housing Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) has said government appreciated the challenges Nigerians are facing as a result of the shortfall in electricity supply in the country, asking for patience, while noting that the government also shares the pains associated with insufficient electricity supply in the country.

He, therefore, made a passionate appeal to all Nigerians to exercise patience over the short fall in electricity supply as the current administration intensifies efforts to proffer genuine and permanent solution to the power problems of the country.

The minister spoke in Jos during the official flag off of the distribution of pre-paid meters, transformers and other relevant equipment to consumers from the Jos zone comprising of Plateau, Bauchi, Gombe and Benue states.

Fashola was represented by Mr. Bako Muhammed of the Finance department in the ministry.

‘‘Government is appealing to all Nigerians to remain patient and give government a little time because government is coming up with genuine and permanent solutions to the energy crisis.’’

He further stressed that the ongoing reforms in the energy sector is a genuine one that will bring about constant electricity supply to every home in the country.

‘‘But a little more patience from all Nigerians is all government needs to concentrate on plans to bring about the lasting solution.’’

He called on investors in the power sector to be committed and transparent in implementing their own part of agreement for the benefit of electricity consumers.

“The call has become necessary because Nigerians expect nothing less than quality service from the electricity distributing and billing companies all over the country.”

Earlier managing director, Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JED) Muhammed Modibo said, the company is investing N50bn.
