APC Crisis: Confusion As Court of Appeal Reconvenes, Rules on Oshiomhole’s Case
…Earlier High Court Approved an Acting National Chairman for APC
A reconstituted Court of Appeal in Abuja Monday stayed the order of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, High Court which restrained Comrade Adams Oshiomhole from continuing in office as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
This is even as another Court approved an Acting National Chairman for APC earlier on Monday.Â
The 3-man panel of justices chaired by Justice Abubakar Datti Yahaha approved Oshiomhole’s appeal.
The Abuja Division Appellate Court justices via an interlocutory injunction unanimously restrained security operatives from taking any steps to give effect to the ruling of Justice Danlami Senchi of the FCT High Court pending the determination of Oshiomhole’s appeal before the justices. Justice Senchi had ordered Oshiomhole to step down from his post.
The appeals court ruling followed an ex-parte motion filed by Mr. Oshiomhole through his lawyer, Mr. Wale Olanipekun.
The court reconvenes Thursday on the matter.
The Court of Appeal, Abuja, on Monday failed to hear the scheduled hearing in the appeal by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole.
The court had, last week sent notices of hearing to parties in the appeal.
However, on Monday, a panel of three Justices led by Justice Stephen Adah sat to hear other cases. Thereafter, the panel promised that another panel shall be reconstituted to hear Oshiomole’s appeal.
But a female official of the court later announced to a packed courtroom that the court has elected to hear Oshiomole’s appeal on a later date to be communicated to parties.
Oshiomhole and his supporters, who were in court were shocked at the decision of the court.
The embattled National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) told journalists that he would await the court’s decision in the case.
Oshiomhole’s appeal is against an earlier judgment of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), which among others, restrained him acting as the National Chairman of the APC.
