Chinedu Jideofo-Ogbuagu
Your Excellency, Dr Okwesilieze Nwodo, you have been consistently in favour of President of Nigeria of South-East extraction, ever since 1999.
However, the campaign of which you have been involved in has always been short on strategy, articulation, definition and coordination, which must be corrected this time.
In respect of 2023, I plead with people like you, Dr Chukwuemeka Ezeife and Prof George Obiozor to use the term “President of Nigeria of South-East extraction” rather than “President of Nigeria of Igbo extraction”. And the simple reasons for this plea are:
- By convention, tacit rotation of the Nigerian Presidency since 1999 has been on geopolitical and not tribal/ethnic-national basis. So “Igbo” shouldn’t come into it.
- All Igbo are not from the South-East, so using “Igbo extraction” means that Ndigbo of other geopolitical zones (and not just those of South-East) will be right to contest on “Igbo extraction” sentiment. That would invariably pitch Igbo against Igbo, which I am sure people like you, Dr Ezeife and Prof Obiozor wouldn’t want.
Please, let this correction be taken for clear understanding of what we are pushing for.
