Thanks Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi For His Consistency

The National President of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) has, on behalf of the National Executive Council (NEC), the Board of Trustees (BOT), Management and Staff of ALGON, congratulated its National Publicity Secretary on his re-elected as the Chairman of Udenu Local Government (LGA).

The ALGON National President, who also welcomed all the newly elected Chairmen in the state, said that ALGON is steadily keeping tabs with the prevailing commitment of many State Governors in conducting elections at the LGAs/Councils as at when due, which, he added, is bearing fruits.

Alabi who spoke through his Media Office in Abuja, stated that trends in conduct of elections across the states, which is in line with the position of ALGON in its renewed advocacy, have received reasonable attention.

He noted that the Association will continue to drive down the message on the need for elections in the remaining States.

He said that by continuous engagement, it is hoped that the outcry of millions of Nigerians that right leadership must take its fulcrum from the bottom-up and not top-down approach, through the democratically elected system, will fully become a reality.

Alabi specifically referenced states that have regular-evidenced-based conduct of its Council polls as having more development mileage which he said is obvious in many states.

“While I commend Dr Mike Ajogwu the Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC) Chairman and his team for the successful exercise, I must not hesitate to appreciate His Excellency Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for this love of LGAs as seen in his consistent grassroots exercise of Council elections in due times since elected. Such outstanding inclusive leadership policy will continue to be commended.

“On behalf of ALGON, we welcome the Chairmen having received their certificates of returns as winners in the 17 Councils as ALGON Members in the State.

“We urge them to continue to make sacrifices in the task of growing the rural governance from strength to strength in fulfilment of their campaign promises, and in line with the vision of the state Governor”, the statement concluded.
