Why President Buhari Should Support My 2023 Presidential Bid – APC Aspirant, Jideofo-Ogbuagu

An All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential aspirant, Chinedu Jideofo-Ogbuagu has reminded his long standing political ally, President Muhammadu Buhari, of the reason why he should support his quest to emerge as his successor in 2023.

According to the APC chieftain and the Convener of the South-East APC Integrity Group, the odds in the race to the Aso Villa, Abuja, next year favours his aspiration.

Giving reasons why it is President Buhari’s turn to support his residential bid, Jideofo-Ogbuagu narrated how the journey to the Presidency began, saying “My best bet to clinch 2023 Presidency is on APC platform. No question about that.

“The permutations I did in 2015 pointed at that and informed my founding of South-East APC Integrity Group in June 2015 as a vehicle for actualization of President of Nigeria of South-East extraction in 2023.

“In January 2020, South-East APC Integrity Group launched South-East APC Presidency Project 2023 for a focused and dedicated pursuit of the same ambition of winning 2023 Presidency.

“On 1st February 2022, I became the preferred presidential aspirant/candidate of South-East APC Presidency Project 2023. Here we are today”, he said.

Underscoring his commitment to the presidential race, Jideofo-Ogbuagu affirmed that: “We are doing everything possible to win APC presidential ticket by whichever means.

“Of course, as leader of APC, President Buhari is influential in the matter of who will become APC presidential candidate. He alone won’t take that decision, but he is influential in the matter.

“The poster I made reminding him of my support for him in 2003, after he won ANPP presidential ticket and five other presidential aspirants from the South had walked out on him at Eagle Square, Abuja in protest, should be seen in that historical context.

“As his fellow presidential aspirant on (the) same ANPP platform in same 2003, I too could have walked out on him at Eagle Square.

“But I chose not to join late Edwin Umezuoke, late Pere Ajuwa, late Harry Akande, Nnia John Nwodo and Rochas Anayo Okorocha in that walkout.

“I stayed behind and would follow Candidate Buhari to all parts of Nigeria on his campaign activities. On several occasions, as his Special Adviser on the campaign, I represented him where he couldn’t go to.

“As we fought together to dislodge President Olusegun Obasanjo and Vice President Atiku Abubakar from Aso Rock Presidential Villa, the expenses of all I did in Gen. Buhari’s support were borne by me.

“So, why would I not remind my friend and political ally of yesterday, now that I need his support for my 2023 presidential aspiration?”, he queried, adding “A friend in need is a friend in deed. A good turn deserves another.

“President Buhari remains my friend and ally. I need and pray for his support to succeed him and build on his GOOD deeds from 29th May 2023”, Jideofo-Ogbuagu stated.
