The simple answer is “NO”. Other Nigerians have never denied and are not today denying Nigeria’s Presidency to the South-East. I have written copiously on South-East’s disappointing misadventure in Nigerian politics since 1960.

By South-Easterners’ usual upsidedown, self-injurious and naive political engagements, the South-East has denied and is today denying itself Nigeria’s Presidency.

On PDP platform, what support are South-Easterners giving to Pius Anyim and Sam Ohuabunwa? Did Enyinnaya Abaribe and Ike Ekweremadu not few days ago lead South-East caucus of senators to pledge support for Atiku Abubakar in 2023?

On APC platform, what support are South-Easterners giving to David Umahi and Chinedu Jideofo-Ogbuagu?

After Umahi’s unpresidential outburst after Federal High Court, Abuja two days ago sacked him as Governor of Ebonyi State, which has effectively killed his 2023 presidential aspiration, what support are South-Easterners giving to Chinedu Jideofo-Ogbuagu, the only APC presidential aspirant of South-East extraction left as at today?

Upsidedown, self-injurious and naive politics of most South-Easterners had been played after Independence of Nigeria in 1960, in 1966/67, in 1978/79, in 1998/99, and in 2002/03. It is again being played in 2022/23!

If South-Easterners want to produce President of Nigeria in 2023, most South-Easterners must stop their usual foolish talks and moves, and focus on supporting their preferred presidential aspirant(s) of SOUTH-EAST extraction with money, men and materials, instead of their usual wishful thinking and self-defeatism.

Or do confused South-Easterners rather want South-East presidential aspirants to pay them for their support? Or perhaps they want the rest of Nigeria to hand the Presidency to any South-Easterner – even a criminal, slavish or ignorant South-Easterner – on a platter of gold?
