CRS APC Governorship: Senator Bassey Otu Campaign Organisation Writes Senator John Owan Enoh Over Malicious Allegations
Senator (Prince) Bassey Otu Campaign Organisation has written to Senator John Owan Enoh Over Qualification Allegations urging him to retract his “malicious defamatory publications” already in circulation against the person of Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu otherwise and desist from towing such path.
The letter signed by the Head of Directorate (Legal) of the Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu Governorship Campaign Organization, Chief Barr. Utum Eteng, warned that the the candidate “shall strongly consider legal action against you.”
Titled “Re: Appeal Against THE Emergence And Declaration Of Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu As The APC Candidate
For Cross River State For The 2023 Gubernatorial Election”, the letter reads:
With reference to your letter/petition dated 27th May, 2022 on the above subject matter, addressed to the Chairman, 2022 Govermorship Primary
Election Appeal Committee, Calabar and widely published on social media, wherein you alleged as follows:
- That Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu wrongly and illegally emerged
and was declared winner of APC Gubernatorial Primary Election in Cross River State despite his non-clearance by both the Screening Committee and the Screening Appeal Committee set up by the party; - That the reason adduced by you for the non-clearance of Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu is the lack of his relevant educational qualification, an allegation that is false in all respect and perspective.
- You equally stated, maliciously and erroneously that Senator Prince Bassey Otu was “purportedly cleared vide a letter written and signed.
In view of the above, we are minded to remind you that all decisions of APC Screening Committee and Appeal Panel are administrative in nature and
consequently subject to the review by the National Working Committee (NWC) and further review by the court of law at the instance of an aggrieved
party.
Rather than resorting to the court of public opinion and the social media for a campaign of calumny, calculated to disparage, malign and discredit our candidate, with a view to causing him irreparable electoral damage, a person of your status should have had recourse to the above suggested approach to redress your grievances in the interest of the party in particular and Cross River State in general.
You are hereby advised to desist from such further publications and also retract your malicious defamatory publications already in circulation against the person of Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu otherwise, we shall strongly consider legal action against you.
