Delta Leisure Park, film village ready September – Commissioner Reveals
The multi-billion naira Asaba Leisure Park and Film Village project being executed by the Delta State Government has reached advanced stage.
The park and the film village which is the brain child of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa-led administration was a deliberate effort to advance tourism in Nigeria and movie production.
Sections where works have reached advanced stage include the zoological garden, artificial lake, indoor games hall, administrative building, observation tower and the landscaping works.
The Film Village is also housing different studio for movie production, amphi-theatre, guest houses, a clinic, staff quarters, hostel, eatery and forest setting for making of movies.
The zoological section of the leisure park has different species of live animals and other creatures including a giant size lion, monkeys, hyena, porcupine, tortoise, antelope, geese among others.
Speaking on the level of work on the Asaba Leisure Park and Film village, the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Mr Lawrence Ejiofor and the Project Consultant, Mr Kester Ifeadi, said the landscaping, installations and other works will be completed in September.
They Commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for the initiative and for providing resources for the projects pointing out that the job on completion will bring a new dawn to tourism and movie production in Nigeria.
Mr Ejiofor blamed the delay in earlier completion of the projects to the devastating effect of COVID-19, which initially slowed down the projects.
