China Reassures Niger Of Full Support, Backs Home-made Solutions To Africa’s Problems

The Prime Minister of the Transition government of the Republic of Niger, Mr. Ali Mahamane Lamine Zene recently received the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Jing Feng, who visited to pledge his country’s unalloyed support in the difficult times the people and government of Niger are experiencing.

A local online news portal, Niger Express, reported that the meeting focused mainly on the prevailing political situation in Niger as China backed home-made solutions to problems bedeviling African countries.

At the end of the meeting, the Chinese diplomat told newsmen that the Chinese government ”attaches great importance to the evolution of the current situation in Niger”,

China, he said, “always pursues a principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries.”

Mr. Feng, finally, underlined that his country “always supports African countries in resolving their problems in an African way” before announcing that “the Chinese government intends to play a role of good office, of mediator on total respect for the countries of the region to find a political solution to this Nigerien crisis.”

The Chinese diplomat also affirmed that China will be “at the side of Nigeriens to support them in this new situation”.

It should be noted that China is a strategic partner for Niger in several areas including energy, oil, and infrastructure.
