Civil Consciousness Global Initiatives (CCGI), a body of eminent Christian personalities, has declared a state of emergency regarding Nigeria’s economic situation, calling on the leadership to rise to the occasion and save the nation.

“The current economic challenges, hunger, insecurity, and luxurious living of our leaders are enough reasons to declare a state of emergency,” said Dr. J.B Odofin, General Secretary of CCGI.

The organization recommended that the Federal government declare a state of emergency on food via agricultural activities, engage NYSC members in agricultural services, and revisit the National Confab report to address national questions.

CCGI also calls for the reduction of cost of governance, leadership by example, and the approval of same minimum wage for politicians as the Labour in the country.

“We believe that if these recommendations are tried, nerves would be calm, and cooperation with government policies would be easily supported,” Dr. Odofin added.

The CCGI’s declaration and recommendations come after consultation with citizens across the board, and the organization urges the Federal government to take urgent action to address the economic challenges facing the nation.
