Kogi Concerned Citizen Initiative Unveils Philip Ameh, Backs Him for Igalamela/Odolu LGA Chair
Kogi concerned citizen Initiative, a project/programme founded in 2015, has announced the adoption of Comrade Philip Ameh as a political personality of interest in the build-up to the October local government elections in Kogi state.
In a release signed by its Chairman, John Atah Onoja, at the weekend, the Initiative said: “We believe the time has come to act by fully endorsing the aspirant comrade Philip Ameh for the upcoming local government elections to hold in October 2024, in Kogi state.
The Initiative stated: “Our local government Igalamela/Odolu needs to thrive economically, uplift its people, and become a shining example of progress for Kogi/Nigeria and the world.”
Kogi concerned citizen Initiative created as a movement on all platforms to “air views and pay attention to the voice of the people at the grassroots and local government, using our relevant platforms to advocate for good governance and development,” the Initiative said it was proud to announce its interest in comrade Philip Ameh to be the chairman of igalamela/Odolu local government.
“The Kogi concerned citizen Initiative is proud to announce that its platform is now dedicated to creating awareness about a political aspirant who they feel is in line with the goals, vision, and mission, for which the Kogi concerned citizen Initiative brand was created in 2015, which is to promote good governance, strong leadership, development at all levels of the state, promote values and our igalamela/Odolu culture,” the release quoted the movement to have said.
The release, which captured the rationale for the movement’s adoption, reads: “Kogi State was carved out of the old Kwara and Benue States. The birth of the new State was a reunion of a people who had shared a common history and had co-existed as one polity for a period of over seven decades before being severed by the 1976 States creation exercise. No doubt, Kogi State is abundantly blessed in both human and natural resources.
“Kogi State is blessed with natural resources such as coal, limestone, iron ore, and granite, contributing to its economic potential.
And igalamele/Odolu is one of the top three richest local government in kogi state, but has been under developed and under taped to explore its rich potentials of the land.
“With the above history of Kogi state, there has been a loss of direction towards development and good leadership. Kogi holds tremendous potential in various sectors, including agriculture, tourism, manufacturing, and technology.
“In all this put together, we would agree that igalamela/Odolu local government is one of the local government giving the shine kogi as a state enjoys today and we believe its needs to be more positioned for greatness, the local government needs people of character, integrity, and someone with the capacity to help drive the igalamela/Odolu we need.
“The Kogi concerned citizen Initiative platform has (thus) endorsed the person of comrade Philip Ameh, a focus-driven man, a personality with integrity, capacity, and competence who had been tested at the level of life.
“Comrade Philip Ameh was the DG Atikunation a pro Atiku movement for Presidency 2019, and also In 2023, he was made the youth campaign manager for Aminu Tambuwal presidential ambition. And Aminu Tambuwal Network ( ATN) was his brain child, he is currently the DG kogi youth movement (KYM) . A movement in kogi state that is solidly in the 21 local government of kogi state.
The release continued: “The driving force behind this initiative, Kogi concerned citizen Initiative, is to extend a voice to the voiceless, advocate for good governance, and seek strong and credible leadership in Igalamela/Odolu local government in Kogi state.
“The Kogi concerned citizen Initiative has a major responsibility to bridge the gap between kogi state and the world. It could be called ‘kogi meets the World’. The major goal is to promote the values of the state, and in comrade Philip Ameh, we have seen all qualities that lead our vision and mission for a better igalamela/Odolu kogi state.”
The movement said its objectives were to drive awareness about and conversation around the aspiration of comrade Philip Ameh as a notable personality for the position of local government chairman of Igalamela/Odolu local government area council, under the African democratic congress ADC in the October 2024 elections; as well as influence and lead key discussions around his achievements in the political space and advocating for good governance, among others.
