Rumors that Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori plans to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have been dismissed as “untrue and concocted” by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon.

According to Ahon, the rumors are the handiwork of opposition elements in the state who are threatened by the governor’s rising acceptance and bridge-building efforts across political divides.

Governor Oborevwori has no reason to defect, Ahon said, given his wide acceptance in the PDP and the followership he enjoys among well-meaning Deltans and residents. Instead, the governor remains focused on delivering his MORE Agenda to all Deltans, as promised during his election campaigns.

Ahon urged Deltans to ignore the rumors, emphasizing that the governor will continue to collaborate with the federal government for the overall benefit of the state and the country.

This development comes amid rumors of defections within the PDP, with some governors, like Fubara of Rivers State, reaffirming their commitment to the party.
