In an inspiring message to commemorate International Women’s Day 2025, the National President of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Hon. Engr. Bello Lawal Yandaki, joined global leaders in recognizing and celebrating the strength, resilience, and invaluable contributions of women, particularly those in rural communities.

“Today, on International Women’s Day 2025, I join millions of world leaders in celebrating the strength and resilience of women, particularly those in our rural communities,” Hon. Yandaki stated. “I salute your steadfastness, dexterity, and resilience in the face of numerous challenges.”

The ALGON President highlighted the significant adversities faced by women, including limited access to healthcare and education, burdensome domestic duties, and childcare responsibilities.

Acknowledging their integral role in society, he emphasized, “I recognize the invaluable contributions you make to our society, from farming and entrepreneurship to nurturing and community building.”

Hon. Yandaki reiterated ALGON’s commitment to advancing gender inclusion and promoting policies aimed at fostering social and economic wellbeing, aligning with the year’s International Women’s Day theme, Accelerate Action.

He assured that ALGON would focus its advocacy on critical issues such as:

  • Access to clean water and sanitation to improve health and wellbeing.
  • Funding for women-led businesses to enhance economic empowerment.

He emphasized, “Despite these challenges, I am inspired by your determination and resilience. I offer my solidarity, honor, and respect to all the amazing women across our villages, states, and the Federal Capital Territory.”

The ALGON President called for collective action and unity to create a brighter future for women, ending his heartfelt message with encouragement: “May this International Women’s Day inspire you all to build confidence, consensus, and a united voice for progress. Together, we can create a brighter future. Happy International Women’s Day!”
