In a surprise move following fracas that Nigeria’s National Assembly over attempted imposition of candidates into offices, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly condemned what transpired in both chambers of the National
Assembly on Thursday.

The party’s position was contained in a statement issued by its National Secretary, Alhaji Mai Mala Buni, insisting that the party stands by the list it sent to the President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, for the positions of principal officers of both chambers.

It noted that the National Caucus, Board of
Trustees and National Executive Committee of the party will meet within the next few days to discuss the evolving developments in the National
Assembly.

The two chambers had on Thursday appointed principal officers in defiance of the position of the APC, which has the majority in the National Assembly.

TheStreetReporters.com recall that in the build up to the election of principal officers in the last National Assembly, the them opposition parties, led by ACN, now APC, had opposed the choice of candidate for the leadership of the House Of Representatives, resulting in the emergence of Aminu Tambuwal as the Speaker of the House.
