UNN Graduates 85 First Class, Targets Best 100 Position in Global Ranking

The Administration of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) has given the assurance that it is prepared to go into dialogue with groups and organizations that show commitment towards the development of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Benjamin Ozumba gave the assurance at the Enugu Campus of the university on Monday in his address at the opening ceremony of the 45th convocation of the university.
He said such dialogue is informed by the fact that the university was happy with its improved global stature and that the target of the administration was to ensure that the University of Nigeria becomes the best in Africa and among the first 100 in the world.
Prof. Ozumba said that the 45th convocation, the university will award over 13, 554 first degree and diploma certificates to deserring young men and women who had been found worthy in character and learning.
The break down, according to class of the degrees and certificates include: First class Honours 85, Second Class Honours. (Upper Division)-13, 040, second class Honours (Lower Division)-7,280, Third class Honours -2, 237, pass – 257, Diploma – 176 and Associaship certificate in Education-4, he said.
He also said the University has nominated five distinguished Nigerians for Honorary Doctorate Degrees of the university.
The norminees include the Obi of Onitsha – Igwe Alfred Achebe, Former Inspector General of Police – Alhaji Ibrahim Commasie, Ambassador Godwin Alaoma Onyegbula and Prince Author Eze (OFR), who would be conferred with the Doctor of Philosophy in public Administration (Honoris Cansa), while Hon. Justice Eze Ozobu would receive Doctor of Philosophy in Law (Honoris causa).
Prof. Ozumba further stated that the University has also listed 19 of its eminent Professors for the title of Professor Emeritus.
